Fluorescent silica particles
Fluorescent silica particles (sicastar¢ç -redF)
  • produced by hydrolysis of orthosilicates and related compounds
  • contain a high amount of covalently bound fluorescence dye in the silica matrix and are extremely stable in organic solvents and buffers (No toxic effects come from the covalently bound fluorescence dyes.)
  • have a hydrophilic surface with terminal Si-OH-bonds
  • monodispers and nonporous in the size range of 30 nm to 1,5 µm with a density of 2.0 g/cm©ø
  • have broader size distributions in the area of the porous silica particles with adjusted diameters between 3 and 20 microns and a density of 1.8 g/cm©ø
  • often applied for detection purposes (flow cytometry, membrane checks, flow investigations)
  • particles > 200 nm can easily be separated by simple sedimentation or centrifugation
  • particles < 200 nm can be separated by ultracentrifugation or washed by SEC or ultrafiltration/dialysis
  • designed with the surface functionalities NH2 and COOH for the covalent binding of proteins, antibodies, oligonucleotides, enzymes or other molecules
  • available with red fluorescence (redF, Ex: 569 nm, Em: 585 nm)
  • available with green fluorescence (greenF, Ex: 485 nm, Em: 510 nm)
  • available with blue fluorescence (blueF, Ex: 354 nm, Em: 450 nm)
  • particles with special fluorescence dyes can be made on customers request
